Hi everyone! Welcome to my new blog “A Ripple in Water.” I tried the whole personal blogging thing before this but I was unhappy with the content I was posting so I decided to take down that blog and try again! I’ve spent the last month or so creating content that I am much happier with and I hope you all enjoy it too!
On this blog you will find content relating to all things arts, culture, and entertainment. I am passionate about the arts and culture and entertainment and these thing have played such a large part in my life and they’ve really shaped who I am as a person. I want people to understand that the world is not just science and math and business. The world needs creative, artistic people. After all, “Earth without ‘Art’ is just ‘Eh’.”(You should know I have a horrible sense of humour and I love bad puns and cheesy quotes). Some things I have lined up include a Movie of the Month series where I review a movie every month, photography posts, love letters to my favourite people, poems, short stories, and of course just regular one-shot blog posts.
The metaphor of a ripple in water applies to so many areas of life – starting with something small and growing into something big and powerful. This is especially appropriate for an arts and culture blog because I believe the arts are one of the greatest sources of change. Music has sparked revolutions, theatre has been revolutionized with productions like Rent and Hamilton, movies are made about horrific events to get us to change our ways, and visual art always reflects what’s going on in the world. Because we are exposed to so much art, whether we know it or not, the messages behind the art tend to resonate with us in some way or another and inspire us to take action and change the world. I really believe that art (something relatively small) has the power to change lives and change the world (something big).
I also want this blog to be somewhat collaborative. If you have photos, poems, stories, or other things you want me to post on here (that relate to arts, culture, and/or entertainment), please feel free to get in touch with me (obviously I will give you credit). Or you can just leave likes and comments on my posts to let me know if you liked it or not. Click the Contact Me tab at the top of the page for all the places you can find me on the Internet and follow me there. You can also click the About Me tab at the top of the page to find out a little bit more about me. I think that’s all I have to say for this introductory post. I’ll be back next week with more!
